Clarity Kennels is a joint venture between sisters Claire Malcolm and Rachel Jesse who share a passion for dogs.

Claire’s breed of choice is the German Shorthaired Pointer and Rachel’s breeds of choice are Rat Terriers and Dobermans. Together we enjoy participating in conformation, agility, obedience, rally-obedience, nosework and more.

We are committed to pursuing sound temperament, health, workability and structure in our breeding programs.  We invite you to browse through our website and if you have any questions, feel free to contact us.

I live in Calgary Alberta.  I am married to a wonderful man, who is a crazy triathlete coach (nolimitstriathlon.com).  We have two wonderful teenage boys and two furry family members: Beans and Huck.

I have always loved dogs and enjoy being around them.  in 2016 I decided to bring this enjoyment/love into my practice as a psychologist.  I was determined to have a therapy dog.  Knowing temperament is essential for a therapy dog, I knew my best choice would be to find a dog from a registered breeder.  As a therapist I wanted a breed that loved people, was willing to please, and easy to train.  As a family member I wanted a breed that could run marathon distances with my husband, hike with me, play fetch with my sons, and love cuddling with us all (including teenage boys). Not a tall order at all….

I decided on a German Shorthaired Pointer, and I have never looked back.

We received Beans from Braebrook kennels.  Beans became my therapy dog, finished quickly in confirmation, and enjoys her sports of nosework, agility, and hunting.  Huckleberry was our keeper puppy from her first litter (CJ x Beans).  He has also finished confirmation quickly and his sports are obedience and hunting.

I believe this breed can match any active family’s needs.  We breed for temperament and health.  Our lines are built by the dedication and knowledge of some of the top GSP breeders. We feel blessed to be part of their continued legacy.

I have loved dogs my entire life. My enjoyment of performance sports began in High School when our parents made me promise to take my new puppy Missy to obedience training.  I enjoy training, but do not trial often.  I purchased my first Doberman in 1993 and I have been involved with purebred dogs ever since. I love the Doberman breed and have been very fortunate to have benefited from excellent mentors in Carolyn Irvine (Royolyn Dobermans) and Lynn White (Whitcam Dobermans) who have modeled and taught me dedication to my breeds, breed clubs and good sportsmanship.

I was introduced to Rat Terriers at a Doberman party in 2000 and knew one day we would add one to our family.  Tigger joined us in 2009 and there was no going back.  I love the versatility, small size and large heart of the Rat Terrier breed.  It has been a big change from training a Doberman and I have learned a lot. I am grateful for the new friends that I am making through the Rat Terrier breed, a truly great group of people.

Our dogs are first our family companions and I couldn’t do any of this without my fabulous hubby Rick and son Cyrus who love the dogs as much as I do.
